July 2, 2023; it is exactly 3 months since I had the plaster cast removed after sustaining a right ankle fracture... having dropped a 200 kg motorcycle on it while parking. The ankle was swollen and painful with zero flexibility. Dr Trambak assessed not just the state of my ankle but all the other mobility and flexibility imbalances emanating from my recent history of a recovering stage four cancer patient. Swa Health's carefully thought through SOPs administered by very caring, knowledgable therapists working punctually ( no waiting) in a state of the art, professionally administered environment took me through many routines of ankle mobility buttressed by cryo- compression therapy and computer measured mobility for the ankle. On week 4 I was moving gingerly and carefully with my tennis drills at the Tolly. But at Swa Health my lower body was undergoing a surreptitious improvement in muscles I did not see or had felt before. Trambak ( we are now on first name terms) was systemically teasing, prodding and making me work to unlock stiff hips; perpetually tight ITbands; gait and posture corrections. I had transitioned as he says ' I no longer see you as a rehab client' ( he does not use the word 'patient'). Rather he says 'you are my challenge for a full body mobility transformation'. Thats music to the ears of a 74 year old. In return though I do my part diligently.So there is a difference as I see it - rehab is an injury specific intervention protocol. Knowledge through study and practice is applied. Mobility transformation is a non invasive surgical-like skill that comes with profound knowledge and deep understanding of how the human body needs to age comfortably. That is Dr Trambak Chakrabarty. Someday I wish he can scale this capability. Because God only knows as we age we need to be happily mobile.Meanwhile for me its not yet over. He sees me less frequently but every weekly visit is one step further to being happily mobile. And for Dr Trambak and myself 'happiness is a moving target; the happier I get the further he moves the target'. Thank you.read more
